CHANGES TO MY STUDY PROGRAMME

Today I'm going to talk about the changes my study programme.

It's a very interesting topic because as a Plastic Arts student the normal thing to do is to make our projects in workshops and have our theoric clases in big halls for everyone to attend. But now all those places are closed due to the quarantine to prevent anyone get sick.

My main subject, Central Workshop of Contemporary Jewerlery, which is the specialiation you choose from the carreer to graduate, has been the most affected, because we used to work with very specific materials, as metal, wood, glazes, and a variety of tools and machinery present exclusively in the workspace as kilns and rotor motors we have at the university facility so for example, this year we had a technic module to learn metal embossing, using an specific toolset and a big professional blowtorch to heat tar and everything up and also an internship in the University of Chile Anatomic Insitute to later make an special art project alluding the body.

All of that shall be replaced by experimental work at home with materials found near by and also recicled things that otherwise would become trash. We are going to learn new things from scratch and make home experiment processes with very satisfactory results. Then we will expose our work in form of presentatios to our teachers and class mates so everyone contributes to the work of another fella, making synchronic meetings from one week to another via Zoom.

  1. It's hard to learn from home but your experiments looks great anyways!
